Teddy Roosevelt said, “(he) who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.” At Roosevelt Elementary, our students know the triumph of high achievement, but our goal is that they also try something that might be outside of their comfort zone. We are daring to try new things each year at Roosevelt. This year, all students will experience enriched science lessons with more hands on experiments. The fourth and fifth graders will have the opportunity to build things in the STEAM lab, learn coding in the computer lab, or do some creative writing during Power Hour. Starting in third grade, students can learn to play an instrument if they choose. Everyone at Roosevelt has weekly general music lessons, time in the computer lab and library, and learns social-emotional skills from classroom lessons by our At Risk Interventionist. By daring greatly, we encourage students to learn more than just academics from their school experience. We are teaching creativity, grit and resilience!
