Wednesday, February 1 (4:00 p.m.-closing): Pizza Studio Fundraiser Night
Parent Technology Night – January 26
Want to know more about the computer programs free to parents to help with math and Language Arts homework? Our District Instructional Technology Coordinator will be coming to Roosevelt on Thursday, January 26 at 6:00 p.m. to go over the Go Math and Benchmark websites, as well as some guidelines for internet safety for kids. The training will be hands on in the computer lab.
You have probably noticed that the new playground has not been installed. There are multiple steps to the approval process and we have completed almost all of them. It is in the final stage of safety testing and can be shipped as soon as this step is complete. Once I have an installation date, I will put it in the blast. – Dr. Meg
STAPLES LOVES ROOSEVELT!!!
For the second year in a row, Staples has awarded our school with a $3,500 grant for copy paper! We are so grateful for this generous gift and for the support they lend to our Booster Club.
Thanks go to Toby Black and Jon Sarna for their leadership in writing the grant and establishing the relationship with this wonderful partner.
Linda Walmsley, Teacher liaison to the Booster Club
The Roosevelt Booster Club is hosting School Board President Larry Applebaum at their meeting on Monday, January 23rd. President Applebaum will update us on the progress of our new playground, ball wall and the other projects being funded by Measure S on our campus. He will be available to answer questions on any issue pertinent to our school and the district. His presentation will be from 3:10 until 4:00 p.m. in Room 8. The Booster Club will then conduct our regular business meeting beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Fun Run Date Update!
Please note that the Fun Run will take place on Wednesday, February 1, NOT Thursday, February 2. The school calendar has been updated on teamroosevelt.com as well. The notices that went home last Wednesday have the incorrect date, but new flyers plus envelopes will be coming home this Wednesday. You can still sign up to volunteer here: http://signup.com/go/jpe2Yx Thank you!
Yearbook ordering information will be sent home in your child's Wednesday folder. 5th graders will receive a separate flyer so that their parents will have the option to order a personalized “love line.” There are no free yearbooks with Booster donation this year. Ana Connell will be collecting 5th grade baby photos, but she will be in touch with the 5th grade class soon!

Honorary Service Awards
Roosevelt Elementary PTA will be selecting its recipients for the 66th Annual Honorary Service Awards Banquet in April 2017.
The purpose of the HSA is to give special recognition to selected individuals, parents, teachers, or school employees who have volunteered outstanding service to children and youth for a long period of time. “Volunteered” is defined as a non-paid service beyond the individual’s normal paid activities. This could be anyone constantly involved with youth and children.
Is there someone who has volunteered outstanding service to Roosevelt for a long time? If the answer is yes, nominate them for PTA’s Honorary Service Award Program. The form can be found on teamroosevelt.com and in the front office.
