December 4-15: Holiday BTAC Basket Food & Gift Collection
Friday, December 15: Holiday BTAC Basket Assembly
Mark your calendars, the 2017 Holiday Food and Gift Drive officially starts December 4th! This yearly tradition, in association with the Burbank Temporary Aid Center (BTAC), is a wonderful opportunity to spread some holiday cheer to Burbank community and help those who are less fortunate. From donating gifts to putting food on the table, let’s make this holiday season special for our eight adopted families! We will be sending home a flyer with next week’s Wednesday folders detailing more information on how your family can participate. If you would like to volunteer with assembling the gift baskets on December 15th, or delivering them to adopted families on December 16th. Please contact Anne-Marie Osgood at firstname.lastname@example.org
As everyone knows, we have a new phone number at Roosevelt. What most of you don’t know is that we have new phones in the office and all of the classrooms. The phones are amazing and challenging for all of the staff to use. We are all working to use this new technology to continue to communicate with each other and with all of you.
The important thing that everyone should know is that these new phones represent more than just a new phone system for our school. They represent an example of how our district officials and elected trustees are working to be good stewards with your tax dollars. This new phone system called “SIP Trunking” allows all phone calls to be carried over the Internet instead of over analog or digital likes. The current phone service through AT&T is estimated to be $113,098 for this year. By switching, the costs should be reduced to approximately $35,472 each year. This will result in a savings of approximately $500,000 over the next 10 years. Also, it eliminates the need to run analog phone lines to the office area and the classrooms. Everything will be running through are computers which will result in reducing infrastructure costs.
This shows us that we are fortunate to be in a district than not only supports a quality education for your children, but also does so with consideration for maintaining fiscal responsibility.
